Assistant Director of Donor Relations

The Office of Donor Relations seeks to strengthen the ties between the college and the community. The office serves those who give time, service and philanthropic gifts to the college, overseeing such activities as gift acknowledgment, reporting, donor recognition and stewardship. The Assistant Director will work closely with members of the Donor Relations team to develop and implement strategic stewardship for constituents and create impact reporting that demonstrates the beneficial results of philanthropy.

Primary Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Donor Relations, the Assistant Director is responsible for the creation of timely, accurate and detailed impact reporting for restricted purpose funds. Working in collaboration with the Associate Director(s) of Donor Relations, this position is responsible for researching the use of restricted purpose funds across campus and gathering impact stories from campus partners. This position is further responsible for writing, editing and formatting highly specific and personalized written reports (print and multimedia), letters or other forms of reporting accordingly. Preparation requires significant collaboration with students, campus partners and College Relations colleagues who work directly with donors to gather impact stories, statistics, video clips, etc., and synthesize the information into cohesive reports.

The Assistant Director will assist with other Donor Relations communications as needed, including an annual Donor Impact Report for all donors to Davidson College, working in collaboration with the Associate Director of Donor Relations, the Director of Donor Relations, and Advancement Communications.

This position is also responsible for the coordination of donor recognition signage. Working with the Associate Director of Donor Relations, this position manages working with campus partners and external vendors to ensure approved donor recognition signage is installed where appropriate and meets all College standards.

  • A team player - able and willing to assist with other Donor Relations projects and College Relations events, projects and duties as assigned.
  • Comfortable using a CRM database to pull donor lists and track communications.
  • Skilled at project management and comfortable managing multiple tasks with competing priorities.


Qualifications:



  • An undergraduate degree or commensurate work experience is required.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite or Microsoft products or a willingness to learn.
  • Experience with CRM navigation or comfort with technology platforms.

Work Setting and Hours:

This position qualifies for a hybrid work arrangement with the option of working some days remotely from home/outside of the office in accordance with College Relations guidelines after a satisfactory introductory period of fully in-office work. The employee will need to be flexible with scheduling in-office days to meet the needs of the office and the division, including attending various in-person meetings and events. General work hours are 8:30 - 5, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours.
