Overview

We are seeking a Survey Technician to join our dynamic construction team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring survey accuracy and coordination for both temporary and permanent construction features. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency in drafting, 3D modeling, survey computations, and construction data preparation, while collaborating closely with field crews and project engineers.

This is a full-time office-based position, ideal for someone with a strong foundation in surveying for heavy civil projects and a passion for precision, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

FlatironDragados, collectively known on this project as DFJV, is delivering the California High-Speed Rail Construction Package 2-3 (CP 2-3)-one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country. This 65-mile stretch through Fresno, Tulare, and Kings counties is part of a transformative transportation system for California, connecting major regions while promoting sustainability, economic growth, and job creation.

What you will be doing

    Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff.
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential dimensions and other field problems.
  • Perform layout work competently and accurately as specified by survey manager.
  • Provide checking of as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
  • Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
  • Assist with conducting quantity calculations as required.
  • Utilize Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and other relevant softwares to manage survey tasks efficiently.
  • Draft and process survey data for bridges, roadways, utilities, and earthworks.
  • Produce 3D surfaces, profiles, and manage point cloud data.
  • Convert and manage survey data for GPS and robotic total stations.
  • Generate files to support field survey crews.


What we are looking for

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related preferred. (
  • 3+ years' experience in survey and land mapping required.
  • License Surveyor In Training (LSIT) Certification preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to train and direct staff on a project site.
  • Developing knowledge of topographic and cross-section surveys to support planning, design, materials and cost projections for the project site.
  • Strong communication skills, proven with engineering teams and management on project sites.
  • Technical skill with survey instruments
