Lab Manager

Requirements

The Lab Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Right Hemisphere Emotion, Cognition, and Recovery (RHECO) lab, including managing IRB protocols, onboarding and supervising undergraduate research assistants, organizing lab meetings, reconciling financial accounts, setting up and maintaining the lab's website, handling participant logistics (scheduling, organizing transportation, payment), and fulfilling other administrative needs of the lab. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with data collection and contribute to data analyses, conference presentations, and manuscript preparation when needed.
  • Join a large, collegial, and vibrant community of researchers interested in brain plasticity and recovery and have the opportunity to participate in Brain Plasticity Seminars and other academic gatherings that bring together researchers from several DC area universities and the MedStar Health Research Institute.


Work Interactions
The newly established Right Hemisphere Cognition and Recovery Lab at Georgetown University and MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital (PI: Anna Greenwald) is seeking a Lab Manager to start in June or July 2025. The lab's NIH-funded research aims to gain a better understanding of cognitive functions commonly attributed to the brain's right hemisphere (e.g., visuospatial skills and attention, as well as emotion recognition) and how their disturbance (e.g., after a stroke) can impact a person's life. Our goal is to translate this improved understanding into better diagnostics and treatments to improve recovery and increase quality of life for those living with brain injuries, as well as those around them. Our research methods are based in cognitive and experimental psychology, neuropsychology, and functional and anatomical brain imaging (MRI).

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Prior research experience in cognitive psychology, neuroscience or another related field
  • Prior MRI research and experience working with stroke survivors are highly desirable
  • Individuals with programming experience, working knowledge of Matlab, PsychoPy, EPrime, or R will be given preference
  • The candidate must be organized, personable, responsible, reliable, self-motivated, efficient, willing and able to navigate the large administrative apparatus of a university, and comfortable working with patient populations

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
