THE POSITION

Are you looking for a civil engineering internship that offers exposure to a diverse range of engineering tasks, from large-scale projects to detailed work in highway and bridge design, as well as construction and maintenance activities? PennDOT District 10 is offering the opportunity to apply your academic training and skills in a real-world setting working under the direction of experienced engineers. We are actively seeking talented individuals to join our team. Upon successful completion of your internship and graduation, you will be promoted to a Civil Engineer Trainee, paving the way for a promising career in transportation engineering. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting construction inspections on both paving and structural projects. Your duties will include performing geotechnical evaluations of foundation submissions and contributing to constructability reviews during the design phase of projects. Additionally, you will assist in the development of construction schedules and review schedules submitted by contractors for approval. Your involvement will also extend to conducting field assessments for surface improvement initiatives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Internship
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Scheduled hours may vary based on assignment within the rotation.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Current enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared bachelor's degree program and successful completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire. Full time undergraduate students who have successfully completed at least thirty (30) college credits and anticipate the completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of hire may apply for this program; or
  • Current enrollment as a graduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared master's or doctorate degree program at the time of hire.

Other Requirements:
