Responsibilities

Peraton's US Capitol Police (USCP) program is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator/Scripting Engineer to manage the installation, configuration, monitoring, and patching of applications in a Windows environment. The initial objective of this position is to ensure that all applications software packages are sufficiently patched to remove any vulnerabilities to the environment. In addition, and equally important, is to utilize PowerShell scripting to automate patch management and verification, manage and maintain scheduled tasks, extract logs, validate configurations, and streamline compliance reporting and Active Directory management
tasks.

Must be able to work onsite at least 1X per week at the USCP OIS Headquarters (499 South Capitol Street SW, Washington DC) and as needed to support critical events which may take place over weekends and federal holidays.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in command line scripting (PowerShell), Windows Server, Active Directory, SSO (Single Sign-On), ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services). While this role does not involve direct server administration, experience managing Windows Server and Active Directory is essential. Experience with Azure cloud services and containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes) is also required.

This position will eventually transition to a DevOps engineer role and as such the experience to support
that role is listed under the preferred skills section below.

Key Responsibilities:

    Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and system management.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices for application patching and
    configuration.
  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise applications in a Windows-based environment.
  • Monitor application health, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches/upgrades as needed.
  • Implement and support Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions using ADFS and other authentication
    mechanisms.
  • Work closely with Windows Administrators and Active Directory teams to ensure seamless
    application integration.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to monitor application performance and uptime.
  • Deploy and manage applications in Azure cloud environments
  • Support containerized application deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience or a Masters degree and 3 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 9 years of experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a USCP clearance (fingerprint ID and clean criminal background check)
  • Intermediate PowerShell skills and base-level of backend development experience.
  • Experience in the technical aspects of DevOps techniques, continuous integration, continuous
    testing, and continuous deployment.
  • Experience managing Windows Server and Active Directory
  • 2+ years experience with Azure cloud services and container orchestration using either or
    both of the following tools: Docker Compose or Kubernetes (K8s).
  • Experience with SSO (Single Sign-On), ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services), PowerShell
    scripting, and MS SQL Server
  • Familiarity with Open-Source tools for test automation such as Selenium.Must be a US Citizen with proven identification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least five years of hands-on experience supporting DevOps to reengineer and automate the
    software development process (CI/CD).
  • Experience working in a large software development program using Agile development
    methodology.
  • Basic Python skills and base-level of backend development experience
  • Experience implementing DevOps for a Cloud-based system on a modernization program.
  • Experience with Container Management Platforms such as OpenShift.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Puppet and Terraform.
  • Experience with Continuous Monitoring tools such as E L/F K Stack (Elasticsearch,
    Logstash/Fluentd, Kibana).

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
