We're actively seeking a talented Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer - Linux to join our Data Center Services Team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Senior Infrastructure Platform Engineer - Linux you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by designing, implementing, and maintaining modern IT infrastructure across various locations globally with a focus on Linux. You will be involved in efforts to automate processes, enhance system performance, and ensure the reliability and security of our systems enterprise wide. You will fill a new role that sits on a team of 9 people in the Corporate division.
How you'll help move us forward:
- Design, deploy, and manage scalable and secure Linux-based systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) across data centers and cloud environments in multiple regions.
- Provide escalation support for complex Linux Server issues, collaborating with operations and support teams to resolve incidents efficiently.
- Define security best practices, hardening guidelines, and compliance standards for Linux Server environment.
- Communicate and enforce Linux Server standards across teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation and compliance.
- Participate in the adoption of automation and IaC projects to optimize system performance and reduce manual intervention globally.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices and automation techniques.
- Ensure security and industry standards are being met through automation.
- Manage and optimize virtualization and hyper-converged infrastructure to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Ensure comprehensive backups, effective monitoring, capacity planning, and thorough documentation for all data centers globally.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
The experience you bring:
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, virtualization platforms, and hyper converged infrastructure, with a strong focus on automation.
- Deep expertise in Linux Server administration, operations, escalation support, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in automation tools and technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Packer, and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
