As the Triton Mission Planner, you'll play a key role in supporting the Triton Operational Support Unit (OSU) and Fleet VUP squadrons in every phase of mission planning-from initial creation to final delivery for flight operations. In this critical position, you'll develop comprehensive Triton mission plans, including approach, departure, and contingency routes, ensuring successful and safe operations. This role directly supports NAVAIR's Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft System program office (PMA-262) and is based in Jacksonville, FL.

Specific Mission Planning responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting air integration efforts by producing draft routes, graphics, and mission plan spreadsheets to support integration efforts with outside agencies.
  • Providing subject matter expertise on the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS).
  • Providing recommendations from an Operator's perspective while coordinating with the Navy Human Factors Engineering competency representatives concerning all matters relating to mission planning interfaces, workload, and supportability.
  • Making recommendations on Mission Planning functions when coordinating with other Triton teams e.g., mission systems sensors teams, information assurance, training, safety, software, and interoperability for review and analysis.
  • Researching technical and procedural information related to MPRA ISR-related missions, testing, and training.
  • Conducting comparative analysis for both "make or buy" decisions and product comparison analysis for systems.
  • Instructing fleet operators in the use and operation of the Joint Mission Planning System, from route creation to mission building.
  • Supporting FAA COA submission by producing graphics and supporting mission planning documentation.
  • Coordinating with industry partners and the US Navy to route and approve all mission plans through the required validation and approval processes.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree desired, or a combination of relevant experience and education.
  • High-Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Drone (Triton, BAMS, Global Hawk, etc.) experience is required.
  • Knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the JMPS system, FAA, and ICAO regulations, and a strong grasp on how UAS integrates into those various areas.
  • Prior MQ-4 Triton AVO/TACCO qualified instructor is desired.
