Summary:
- Commodities Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all parts of the firm to deliver banking, sales, trading, and asset management capabilities to clients around the world.
- We support the full suite of Commodity offerings from a product perspective (oil, natural gas, electricity, metals, etc) and all styles of markets (financial, physical, cleared, etc).
- Commodities Operations provides essential risk management and control to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation.
- For every trade agreed, new product launched, market entered, and transaction completed, it is Operations that develops the processes and controls that makes business flow.
- As a Commodities Operations professional, you will have the opportunity to partner with the teams across the firm and work on activity spanning all of these products and markets.
- Commodities Operations is seeking a professional with strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage the associated risks related to both physically delivered and derivative transactions across our America's client base.
- You will need to multi-task well and be able to adapt quickly to an ever-changing list of demands.
- The role requires extensive coordination and interactions with various Operations teams, Sales & Trading, Technology, Compliance, Legal and other professions across the firm to mitigate risks.
- The Commodities Sales and Trading Services team is responsible for the operational support of the commodities business.
- Our team works very closely with our sales and trading teams to facilitate all aspects of the operational risk and control framework.
- In addition to working with sales and trading, the teams interact with other internal teams that include product control, strategists, technology, compliance, and legal.
Duties:
- Manage, monitor, and investigate reporting breaks and process failures; synthesize and implement corrective actions.
- Find and resolve booking discrepancies across complex derivative businesses.
- Engage with the front office and operations technology to help facilitate the resolution of technical production issues.
- Develop and implement strategic changes to re-engineer processes and reduce risk.
- Be a key player in projects specific to technology infrastructure changes and regulatory guidelines across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure that processes are continually reviewed and improved, risk is managed, and results are achieved that meet expectations for timeliness, quality, and cost effectiveness within the department.
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 0-3 years of professional work experience in financial services operations, preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications.
- Ability to demonstrate strong technical skills and keen attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Middle Office, Settlements, Documentation, Commodities, Trade Support experience highly recommended.
- Team player with a collaborative style and strong interpersonal skills.
- Effectively handle difficult requests, build trusting, long-term relationships with the business and be able to manage expectations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to be clear and concise.
- Self-starter who thinks ahead, anticipates questions, finds alternative solutions and identifies clear objectives.
- Able to successfully multi-task, work towards extremely challenging goals and persist in the face of obstacles.
- Project management experience a plus.
