This leader will be responsible for building and delivering a consistent and sustainable investment and service strategy to clients. This position will be ultimately responsible for the results of the Investment Strategists which includes asset growth, strategy and research implementation and execution, and monitoring customized solutions. Additionally, this position will be responsible for driving toward zero tolerance on trading and other errors, and compliance with all firm and regulatory policies and procedures. This position will be accountable for ensuring the consultative investment management process serves as the foundation for providing the required client experience across the regions. This position will help to deliver the entirety of the investments product offering including performance, innovation including digitization, development, platform, and sales This position will provide professional development and training for the Investment Strategists and the support staff to remain abreast of industry developments and regulatory requirements. The leader is required to be a subject matter expert related to research, trading, compliance,accounting, and portfolio management platforms that may be in use by the organization. This position will work with partners in Trust & Fiduciary Services and Wealth Planning to align client goals,goals based investing and any governing document requirements. This position will also work across the enterprise to deliver the Wealth Management investment process and value proposition. This role will be a voting member of the Investment Policy Committee as well as Product Committees and will be expected to be an active participant in these committees as a subject matter expert for investment management activities.
Position Responsibilities:


  • Develop and drive a fully integrated investment approach.
  • Manage all Investment Strategist and support staff to achieve consistent exceptional client experience, while achieving net asset growth, model utilization and non-strategy performance exceptions as determined through the overall Investment Policy strategy.
  • Insure that the investment team consistently provides consultative investment expertise and advice to all Wealth Management's clients.
  • Consistently apply all facets of the consultative investment management process to manage client accounts. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

    1. Incorporate the 5-step Consultative Investment Management Process to manage client accounts.
    2. Maintain a current understanding and working knowledge of the Comerica Investment Policy Committee, asset allocation guidelines and process for establishing risk tolerance objectives.


  • Maintain a Subject Matter Expert. Working knowledge of the current financial regulatory environment, fiduciary standards and current and proposed regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and execute a comprehensive transition plan for IS's current book of business.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of and be a subject matter expert on our research, trading and trust accounting platforms.
  • Review and approve compliance exceptions as required by policy.
  • Ensure Reg 9 investment reviews are completed in a timely manner and any identified investment exceptions are cleared in accordance with policy and procedure.
    Work with Investment Strategist's to limit errors and trade corrections. Monitor progress on account reviews required by regulation or policy and resolution of items on investment exception reports.
  • Serve as a mentor and provide the required professional development and training for all Investment Strategists and support staff.
  • Ensure the consultative investment management process serves as the foundation for providing the required client experience in their region.

Position Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, or Trust Administration
  • 10 years of experience within the financial services industry, specifically focused in the areas of investment management, investment oversight, risk management, compliance and/or trust administration
  • 10 years of experience in Business Development or relationship management
  • 7 years of experience in Leading/Managing Investment Professional on an integrated Wealth Management Team


Preferred:


  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, or Trust Administration

Work Best Category: Category B - 3-4 days in office on designated days/1-2 days remote Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday Salary: To Be Determined Based on Individual Experience
