POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Political Science and School of Public Policy are searching for an Academic Program Coordinator. This position will provide administrative support to the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Political Science and serve as the primary point of contract for the Political Science Graduate (Masters/PhD) degree program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as primary department contact for all Political Science graduate program inquiries; assist students and instructors with questions.

  • Review and process admission applications, respond to inquiries from prospective students.

  • Perform course scheduling tasks that include: building the course schedule each semester, enrolling students, and changing classrooms as needed.

  • Maintain student records and documents, track student progress through the program.

  • Assist with maintaining web pages related to Political Science graduate programs and placement records.

  • Oversee several budgets within the Graduate Program.

  • Enter graduate assistantship appointments and work with incoming graduate students in the completion of all necessary new hire personnel documentation.

  • Process graduate appointment forms in Workday with detailed budget distribution information.

The Academic Program Coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating student-related virtual and in-person events, such as the Graduate Student Recruitment weekend, New Graduate Student Orientation Week, and the Graduate Association in Political Science's student meetings and spring picnic.

The Academic Program Coordinator will work both independently, as well as collaborate/have support of their team when completing the position's responsibilities. This position will serve as a back-up to other members of the Political Science and Public Policy academic and administrative teams to ensure adequate coverage, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to be detail-oriented and multi-task

  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Academic Program Coordinator - Senior Support, this position requires: Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Academic Program Coordinator - Intermediate Support, this position requires: General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

This position will report to the Academic Program Coordinator Supervisor.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $61,000.00.
