This Position reports to:

Systems Drives Operations Manager

ABB is seeking a Technical Support Technician, for our IA Process Industries division. Our ABB drive service division is seeking an individual to support our growing system drives business. Our systems are used in Pulp & Paper, Metals & Mining, and Cement industries. This position requires an individual with excellent troubleshooting skills, and a person with a strong technical background in drives and motors. The Drives Technical Support Engineer will provide technical support to ABB Customers/End users, and ABB System Drive Team.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for common problems related to the application of ABB System Drives, Control Systems, and motors
  • Analyze problems and initiate effective measures for their solution
  • Execute product warranty while ensuring customer satisfaction and simultaneously achieving cost-control objectives
  • Enter each reportable case as applicable in the Salesforce Case Management System
  • Required to provide technical support during the evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule
  • Support ABB Digital Offerings/ABB Ability
  • Remote Support for RAP/Support Line contracts
  • Assist with part orders/Recommended spare parts list
  • Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and software tools
  • Learn ABB tools such as Drive Composer, Drive Windows, Control Builder, SAP, Concur, Outlook, AMEX
  • Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to instruct on how to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment
  • Ability to build strong effective working relationships with our customers
  • Ability to own self-development by reading technical publications and participating in educational opportunities
  • Ability to adapt to ever changing job site situations

Required Qualifications:

  • Either High School Diploma and 5 years' technical work experience; or Associates degree and 3 years' technical work experience; or Bachelor's degree and 1 year technical work experience required
  • A special combination of education and experience must be demonstrated in the AC/DC drives area
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Performed field service engineering for AC and DC coordinated drive systems
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, strong communication skills
  • Ability to write detailed technical service reports
