Responsibilities

As a Laborer/Groundman, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

  • Perform fiber blowing operations as directed, assisting in the installation of fiber optic cable in conduits using specialized fiber-blowing equipment

  • Be responsible for various manual tasks such as unloading materials, preparing job sites, and using hand tools like shovels and picks

  • Conduct general labor on construction sites, including job site setup, material handling, and equipment staging

  • Support with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor

  • Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate PPE

  • Be involved with vehicle and equipment operations (e.g., compressors, fiber blowers, flatbeds) as directed and certified

  • Conduct placement of conduit as directed, including verifying open and usable conduit paths

  • Support with trench digging or potholing to expose or verify conduit routes as needed

  • Learn to read and work from basic construction maps and design schematics for fiber routes

  • Learn all inventory and equipment required for fiber blowing projects

  • Assist with maintenance of tools, vehicles, and blowing equipment, including cleanup and minor service tasks

  • Be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) guidelines as they apply to underground fiber installation


Qualifications

About You:

  • Safety is a part of your day to day
  • You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
  • You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work
  • You are looking for long term projects
  • You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team
  • You have a valid Driver's License
  • You have a clean driving record
  • You can lift and carry up to 70 lbs
  • Have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process
  • Ability to read and understand design schematics and maps
  • Climbing certification or related experience
  • Practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber
  • Knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials
  • City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related
  • Extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks
  • Flagger Certified for field work as needed
  • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high volume work environment

Travel Details

  • $125/day per diem.
  • Schedule is full time with opportunity for overtime.
  • Crews may be traveling throughout WA, OR, ID, UT, and CA.
  • Crews may be traveling up to 5 weeks on with 1 week off.
