Description As a Senior Clinical Informatics Architect, you will play a pivotal role in bridging clinical practice and health information technology. Leveraging your clinical background, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our Epic electronic health record to enhance patient care delivery, facilitate clinical decision-making, and support system efficacy and usability for all staff. In collaboration with clinical, operational, and technical teams, you will drive continuous improvement of EHR workflows that align with best practices and regulatory standards. Your expertise in clinical informatics will empower our staff to use our EHR proficiently and efficiently to improve patient outcomes and focus on our mission.

Qualifications

Minimum Education



  • Master's Degree in clinical or technology relevant area (e.g. nursing, pharmacy, medical research, bioinformatics, engineering, or related field). (Preferred)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) (Preferred)


Minimum Work Experience



  • At least 7 years of related work experience, including health care practice or operations, clinical consulting, and/or other health information technology work experience. (Required)
  • At least 1 year of licensed health care practice or other care delivery role (e.g. nurse, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, case manager). (Required)

  • Project Management: Strong analytic thinking and problem-solving skills with mastery of project management, capable of handling multiple initiatives simultaneously, including overseeing successful and fast-paced implementations of enterprise software including the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Technical: Strong expertise in health information technology and clinical informatics, including direct experience with electronic health records and digital health platforms. Familiarity with cross-venue clinical workflows and health care operations, including revenue cycle, analytics, and other business processes. Knowledge of quality improvement and process improvement methodologies and health information and health care regulations and laws. Mastery of user-centered design principles, human factors engineering, usability testing, and software development life cycle.

Required Licenses and Certifications



  • Registered Nurse e.g. Registered Nurse (RN), Pharmacist (PharmD), or other clinical certification (Preferred) Or
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) e.g. Registered Nurse (RN), Pharmacist (PharmD), or other clinical certification (Preferred) Or
  • Pharmacist e.g. Registered Nurse (RN), Pharmacist (PharmD), or other clinical certification (Preferred) This position requires that the appropriate Epic certification be successfully obtained and maintained for the assigned area of responsibility within 6 weeks of completing training, if not obtained prior to hire. 180 Days (Required)
  • Clinical informatics (e.g. CPHIMS, AHIC, ACHIP, ANCC) (Preferred)


Functional Accountabilities



  • Contribute to strategic planning and execution of clinical informatics initiatives to support patient care, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Design, configure, test, and evaluate health information technology solutions, including the Epic EHR and interfaced systems, clinical decision support tools, and other healthcare technologies with a continuous improvement approach.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical, operational, and IS departments, leveraging clinical knowledge to develop innovative solutions.
  • Apply workflow analysis, process mapping, and other clinical informatics methodologies to document current state functioning across clinical roles and patient care areas to capture and prioritize opportunities for gap closure and system and skill maintenance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to ensure the effective integration of health information technology systems and workflows.
  • Lead clinical technology governance of assigned domains and enact effective change management and end user communication.
  • Partner with application analyst, clinical content, and training teams to ensure robust system testing, change control, and adoption.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational stakeholders and IS staff to identify opportunities for leveraging technology to improve clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to assessment and selection of health information technology tools, applications, and platforms that align with the organization's clinical, operational, and business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the adoption and utilization of health information technology systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams to contribute to the development and enhancement of clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Evaluate process and outcome metrics to monitor system performance, user adoption, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes.
  • Measure impact of system changes and clinical informatics initiatives with qualitative and quantitative data and assessments.
  • Represent the organization at academic and industry conferences through national presentations and publications.
  • Stay current with health information technology industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging methodologies in clinical informatics, sharing insights and recommendations with clinical informatics teams.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that supports learning, innovation, and career growth.
  • Mentor and coach Clinical and Associate Clinical Informatics Architects, providing guidance on project execution, professional development, and informatics best practices.
