The Purchasing & Distribution Shift Supervisor assists the Purchasing & Distribution Team Leader in overall management of process and supervision of the Purchasing & Distribution Team Members in the Micro Kitchen facility, supporting all aspects of daily kitchen operations including profitability, expense control, buying, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Purchasing & Distribution Team Members.
  • Assist with all procurement processes, such as creating purchase orders, inputting cost updates when receiving orders into the system, and using supplier portals for placing orders.
  • Conducts monthly General Ledger (GL) reconciliation and collaborates with key stakeholders in accruals and accounting for invoices.
  • Assist with managing inventory levels, monitoring stock levels, and optimizing inventory turnover while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct cycle counting and inventory counting processes, including month end inventory counts.
  • Assist with packaging material ordering and maintenance of packaging inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and company policies, including procurement policies, ethical standards, and health and safety regulations. Mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions, supplier failures, or other potential threats to continuity of operations.
  • Achieve all required productivity, safety, and labor targets.
  • Coach Team Members to ensure hygiene and sanitation standards to comply with food safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor Team Members on procurement processes, safety procedures, and equipment usage.
  • Build a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale. Escalate any concerns to a member of Team or Facility Leadership.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with relevant regularity rules and standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), HACCP, FSMA, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Department of Labor, Health and Sanitation regulations, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Agriculture, and Weights and Measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Associate Team Leader, Facility Leadership.

Qualifications:

  • 1to 2 years of supervisory experience preferred. Kitchen production facility experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain management, environmental health and safety, and OSHA.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial reports, packing lists, pick sheets/fulfillment orders, inventory count sheets, and purchase orders.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in select Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); and ability to learn custom applications
  • Basic understanding of ERP processes within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work well with others, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders including Team Members, customers, suppliers, and regulators.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must adhere to company dress code and standards of production kitchen dress and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • May require use of ladders.
The wage range for this position is $21.00-$36.00 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
