Responsibilities The Pharmacist-Clinical Research-NCI is an integral member of the Pharmacy team and performs responsibilities which enhance the service and reputation of the department. The primary objective of the Pharmacist-Clinical Research-NCI is to facilitate pharmacy review and implementation of oncology research protocols. The duties include managing trial operations by reviewing feasibility for prospective trials; working with NHORA for pharmacy budget/fees; identifying and resolving any trial related issues. These duties also include education of pharmacy staff for responsibilities related to clinical trials; accurate and efficient dispensing of medications; communicate with staff within and outside the department in relation to clinical trials; perform cross-functional duties of the staff pharmacist/clinical pharmacist; and other duties consistent with the job classification as required. The Pharmacist-Clinical Research-NCI will prepare Beacon treatment plans and serve as a sign-off on medication entries and Beacon templates. They will participate in all study related pharmacy tasks throughout the protocol life cycle, including site qualification visits, site initiation visits, audits, and study closeouts. The Pharmacist will collaborate with the principle investigators, research nurses, research coordinators, research technicians, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacists for research needs. The pharmacist will perform administrative functions such as maintaining all aspects of the pharmacy binder including but not limited to overall accountability logs, subject accountability logs, preparation work sheets, shipment receipts, and communications between site and sponsor.
