Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Assistant, Per Diem in the Cancer Prevention and Outcomes Data Support Department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

The purpose of the Research Assistant Per Diem position is to support research that focuses on understanding and promoting health-related behaviors among individuals with cancer and those at risk for cancer, under the direction of the Program Manager of the Shared Resource and the Qualitative Research Scientific Director.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

  • As directed, creates a user-friendly system for study tracking and data entry using already-developed systems.
  • Provides support in data processing, storage, organizing, and preparing data for qualitative analyses.
  • Participates in phone, electronic, and in-person communication and meetings with study staff.
  • Supports the preparation and dissemination of research findings through scientific posters, presentations, manuscripts, and community events.
  • Assists with literature searches and syntheses, and manages references for research proposals and manuscripts.
  • Assists with preparation of IRB documents and administrative and compliance reports.

Salary Details $27.38 per hour, or commensurate with experience

Mid Range Salary 75.00
Maximum Salary 150.000

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or another health, social or behavioral science or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus one year of related research experience required.
  • Proficiency with qualitative research software such as Atlas.ti required.
  • Additional experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated organizational, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong personal initiative, attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to motivate and recruit study participants.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and EndNote.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of qualitative research experience, including data collection and analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in managing research projects and working with survey and data management software such as RedCap is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) skills an asset.
