The Department of Family Medicine at the UCR SOM is building, growing, and innovating in the areas of interdisciplinary education, collaborative research, health care delivery and community engagement. We are recruiting ladder-rank, research faculty members holding the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor who are committed to interdisciplinary research collaboration and developing research networks to address community needs. We look for highly accomplished scholars with active research programs focused on those living and working in inland Southern California. Ideal candidates will have at least five years of collaboration with health care teams in ambulatory primary care, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine. We are especially interested in outstanding scholars whose research, education, and service, are coupled with the knowledge and skills in the areas of health services delivery, implementation science, substance use, or structural and social determinants of health. Deep interest and commitment to conducting collaborative research with diverse populations of inland Southern California is a preferred qualification.

Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, EdD, MD, DO or equivalent degree in fields applied to public or population health, anthropology, economics, epidemiology, preventive medicine, sociology, and qualitative and quantitative methods. Candidates seeking a clinical appointment must have an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent degree and be eligible to practice in the State of California. Physician candidates must be board certified in their specialty. Applicants interested in a clinical appointment must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health. Successful candidates will receive mentorship within and outside the department and at the level of the Senior Associate Dean of Research for SOM. Further, interdisciplinary collaboration within SOM includes clinical departments, department of Social Medicine, Population and Public Health and Biomedical Sciences and cross campus colleges, departments, and centers.

The successful candidates for Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank should show notable scientific contributions, shown by high quality and impactful peer-reviewed publications and a record of extramural funding. Successful candidates will also be expected to show a strong commitment to education, University, and public service. Successful candidates will have opportunities to contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and graduate students. The rank at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level at the time of appointment will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. After an appointment, advancement through the faculty academic rank at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
