  • Estimated annual base pay: $30.42 (minimum) - $38.03 (midpoint) - $45.64 (maximum) Plus shift differential and overtime

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Technical Writer II, we have an exciting opportunity for you. Supports business activities by editing and creating useful and informative technical materials. Works under supervision.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Create and edit technical documents through use of advanced tools, such that they are clear and readily understandable by a defined target audience. Perform proof-reading of technical documents. May include, but not limited to, technical bulletins, product manuals, service bulletins, product specification sheets and Assembly and Test documentation. Responsible for ensuring documents are ready for review by the appropriate personnel prior to reaching the end user
  • Research the necessary information required to create a technical document, by sourcing and reading engineering documentation, interfacing with Woodward engineers and other subject matter experts, consulting with sales, marketing, operations and other members, or by other necessary means. Primarily uses existing templates and style sheets
  • Maintain and improve the content and layout of the Woodward documentation files
  • Understand and use industry standard documentation structures and formats, as defined by the business segment
  • Actively participate and lead in a continuous improvement culture, including but not limited to, identifying quality and/or process improvement opportunities within the technical writing function
  • Meet basic quality expectations, e.g. ISO or other standard compliances
  • Distribute documents to internal and external customers as required
  • Is a mentor for other writers
  • Maintain and make available to Woodward members the complete log of product specifications, product manuals, service bulletins and other technical materials. Maintain complete and accurate records, archive files, computer backup files for the technical communications

What We Are Looking For

  • US - High School Diploma - required
  • US - Associate's Degree
  • 2-5 years Technical writing experience
  • Windows PC skills, internet skills and MS skills
  • Technical Illustrations and XML authoring experience preferred
  • Proficient in standard computer applications and possessing a working knowledge of product/component processing

This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
