Job Description
The Transportation Planner at Kimball International is responsible for planning and executing domestic shipments, ensuring on-time delivery through coordination with logistics partners. This role focuses on meeting customer delivery requirements while maintaining operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and balanced loading schedules at suppliers and warehouses.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute transportation plans for customer orders
- Ensure on-time customer delivery while maintaining balanced loading schedules at suppliers and warehouses at the lowest possible cost
- Manage expedite and exception shipment requests by providing options and alternatives
- Complete and process accessorial forms when applicable
- Tender loads to carriers and provide accurate shipment details to ensure proper delivery
- Coordinate shipments through our network of logistics service providers, including warehouse operators and domestic carriers
- Maintain strong working relationships with logistics partners
- Provide expedited ground freight quotes when requested
- Enter and maintain logistics data in CRM and ERP systems, including logistics plans, costs, and shipping details
- Assist in monitoring and reporting logistics performance metrics, including on-time shipping, carrier rejections, exceptions, and truckload details
- Manage OS&D (over, short, and damaged) reports from carriers
- Coordinate shipment details with Order Fulfillment in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain a customer-focused approach to resolve internal and external customer issues

The ideal candidate will be located near Jasper, IN and work primarily from of our headquarters.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of domestic freight movement
Educational:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred
