Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist Under the direction of a Nuclear Medicine Physician, the Lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs and oversees imaging procedures using diagnostic nuclear medicine equipment. This role includes responsibility for radio pharmacy procedures, quality control, patient care, staff scheduling, and compliance with NRC guidelines and hospital policy. The Lead Tech ensures smooth daily operations and provides technical guidance and oversight to Nuclear Medicine staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Perform and oversee all diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures including SPECT, cardiac, brain, portable, and emergency imaging. Administer radiopharmaceuticals and ensure proper patient preparation and safety. Prepare and draw radio pharmacy kits; complete dose calibrations and radioisotope handling per NRC regulations. Conduct daily, weekly, and SPECT quality control on gamma cameras. Review and validate imaging for accuracy, proper views, labeling, and complete documentation for physician interpretation. Coordinate staff schedules and patient workflows to ensure timely and effective service delivery. Manage radioisotope orders, generator packaging, and supply inventory. Assist physicians with patient therapies including I-131 treatments and total body scans. Perform bone density scans as required. Supervise and mentor technologists and students; provide input for performance and training. Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, including NRC standards. Participate in developing and evaluating departmental policies and procedures. Monitor patient care interactions to ensure sensitivity, courtesy, and alignment with hospital mission. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including quality assurance logs, patient records, and radio pharmacy tracking. Support budget preparation by assessing equipment and supply needs. Assist with cleanup, monitoring logs, and end-of-day duties. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Associate's degree or and successful completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology training program. Licensure: Current Massachusetts State License in Nuclear Medicine Registered with ARRT (N) or CNMT (NMTCB) Experience: Minimum 1 year of work-related experience preferred Skills: Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English Strong knowledge of NRC regulations and safety practices Excellent organizational and communication skills Proficiency in scheduling, inventory, and team coordination Competence in patient positioning, care, and comfort techniques Preferred Attributes: Leadership or supervisory experience Experience in clinical instruction or training Familiarity with hospital information systems (RIS, PACS, EPIC) Equal Opportunity Employer/Disabled/Veterans According to the FTC, there has been a rise in employment offer scams.
