We are seeking a talented IP networking engineer who can develop and lead the installation of IP network hardware and software systems. As a C3 Networking Engineer you will...

  • Lead technical teams to install IP network hardware and software on operational US Navy Platforms
  • Perform site visits to plan installs on operational platforms with unique networking architectures
  • Provide training and operational support to uniformed Navy personnel
  • Train and mentor junior staff members in networking and routing hardware and software
  • Perform technical system sustainment and development
  • Collaborate with program leadership and develop teams to assess the impact that proposed hardware, software, and algorithm changes will have on collection systems operations
  • Develop tailored alerting capabilities based on operational needs
  • Support task planning activities by creating workflows for briefing collaborators, executing training, and integrating technical capabilities
  • Work alongside US Navy users to observe use cases and explain software features and collection products
  • Travel often, CONUS and OCONUS, to support installation, site visits, and engagements with government and fleet staff

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have...

  • Have at least 10 years of direct relevant operational experience working with the US Navy submarine community
  • Have applied expertise with submarine networks and TCP/IP communications
  • Have experience installing and troubleshooting routing and switching equipment and implementing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and VLANS
  • Have experience installing and managing network security devices such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Have experience installing and troubleshooting DoD COMSEC devices
  • Have experience working with submarine network systems, applications, protocols, and supporting technologies
  • Have experience developing and delivering training for operational hardware or software systems
  • Have experience working in Linux operating systems and IP data collection systems and applications
  • Have experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana
  • Are comfortable and effective in communicating and collaborating with senior DoD leadership and peers
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
  • Are willing to travel up to 75%

You'll exceed our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Science
  • Have demonstrated ability in a technical position, with experience leading a small simulation, software development, or data analysis task
  • Have demonstrated knowledge and application of machine learning or statistical analysis techniques
  • Have Python programming experience
  • Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with government sponsors
  • Possess an active TS//SCI clearance

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
