Role Summary

This role functions as an 'integrator' responsible for aligning the lab and shop resources, priorities, and tools to match the needs of new product development and continuous product improvement efforts.

This role will lead and manage the testing and fabrication technical teams, translating engineering requirements into practical lab and shop solutions. Ensure both teams are equipped with the necessary skills and resources to effectively support the engineering initiatives.

This role will serve as a liaison between engineering and the manufacturing team to support product qualification needs through lab and shop resources.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Describe the 5-7 major accountabilities)

  • Responsible for aligning Lab and Shop priorities and resources with the needs of the organization.
  • Accountable to Lead the Lab and Shop personnel consistent with company philosophy and C&D corporate behaviors.
  • Responsible for leading the Lab and Shop personnel in ensuring the skillsets and equipment meet the needs for test and prototype, current and future.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of product test procedures.
  • Accountable to ensure internal customer satisfaction for prototyping and testing. - Marketing, Operations, Engineering, etc.
  • Participate in the development of the annual department budget and capital plan as well as maintaining compliance with these plans.

Operating Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Capable of solving problems with solutions that are consistent with company philosophy.
  • Familiar with Agency testing standards for consumer products such as UL, IEC, CQC and TUV testing standards is helpful but not required.
  • Familiar with general machine shop practices such as milling, turning, grinding, electrical discharge machining (EDM) and 3D printing technologies.
  • Knowledge of plastic molded parts, electromechanical mechanism design, and high-volume design philosophies.

Education and Experience

  • A BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent learning experience in a technical science area and a minimum of 6-years of product design experience.
  • Interest in leading a team in the execution of the above responsibilities; 0 - 2 years of management experience required.
  • Experience in Engineering design and product development is key to success in this role.
  • Experience working in a cross functional product development team.

Salary and Benefits

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,100 - $149,700, with bonus eligibility when applicable.
