The Opportunity: As an IT Infrastructure & Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the IT infrastructure that supports our Covington plant. You'll be the go-to person for ensuring the reliability of our systems, providing technical support to our users, and contributing to key IT projects. This is a hands-on role that requires a blend of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach. What You'll Do:
- Infrastructure Management:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure components, including switches, wireless access points, and cabling (fiber optics, Cat5/6).
- Ensure the security and reliability of critical IT infrastructure equipment and data.
- Work closely with our main global office network server teams for yearly lifecycle replacements of network equipment.
- Manage and maintain the AMAG security system.
- Technical Support:
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support to site users, resolving hardware and software issues promptly and effectively.
- Respond to and resolve IT-related emergencies, including plant shutdowns, acting as an initial troubleshooter and repair technician.
- Manage desktop problem resolution.
- Project Involvement:
- Participate in site project teams and broader IT initiatives, ensuring appropriate use of technology and adherence to enterprise standards.
- Manage IT site project proposals and implementation, partnering with Plant Technical (CIS) and Engineering teams.
- Implement new technologies in collaboration with global D&T groups.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Display leadership qualities in day-to-day tasks and projects.
- Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and plant personnel.
- Partner with the IT Site Lead and Regional IT Manager to optimize the site's IT budget.
- Actively participate in team meetings, sharing updates and collaborating with colleagues in other regions.
- Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to resolve issues and ensure business continuity.
- Coordinate with vendors for maintenance, repairs, and replacements of IT equipment.
- Documentation & Standards:
- Create and maintain documentation for IT systems and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to General Mills IT guidelines, standards, and policies.
- Work closely with Compliance Teams to ensure correct processes are implemented across the site and escalate non-compliance.
What You'll Bring:
- Technical Expertise:
- Intermediate proficiency in systems and network troubleshooting, including switching layers, fiber optics, Cat5/6 cabling, and wireless AP networks.
- Intermediate proficiency in current desktop productivity tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, SharePoint, MS Teams, Maximo, SAP).
- Understanding of WAN/LAN connectivity, servers, printing, and phone systems.
- Problem-Solving Skills:
- Analytical skills to identify problems and deliver effective solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

- Experience & Education:
- Associate's degree plus 5+ years of experience in an IT-related field, OR Bachelor's Degree plus 1+ years' experience in IT-related field.
- Preferred experience in a manufacturing environment.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $70100.00 - $116900.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
