THE SALVATION ARMY NORTH & CENTRAL ILLINOIS DIVISION Norridge Citadel Corps POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Territorial Ministry Discovery Intern LOCATION/DEPT: Norridge Citadel REPORTS TO (TITLE): Corps Officer FLSA CATEGORY: Exempt STATUS TYPE: RFT DEPARTMENT MISSION This is a leadership position, which exists to develop individuals in preparation for full time ministry through officership. This individual will work with the Corps Officer to learn and experience involvement with and leadership of the daily and weekly responsibilities and programming of the corps. OUTCOMES The Ministry Discovery Program Intern will experience the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. This will require that duties and responsibilities be adjusted as Corps programming and needs change with seasons, training emphasis and local service priorities, all carries the intent of giving a well-rounded experience and exposure to Salvation Army programming and leadership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in Worship and Christian education programs (Sunday School, Bible Studies, Corps Cadets, Small Groups etc.,) Including; planning, leading meetings, preaching, teaching, and supporting others in those roles.
- Participate in and coordinate, as assigned, the development of corps programming, worship arts, music programs, special programming (VBS, Day Camps, Outreaches) Character Building and Leadership Training for corps members.
- Represent the Army at community events including, but not limited to; Service Clubs, Committee participation, school functions, and Ministerial Associations.
- Participation in and development of community center, social service and core corps programs.
- Participation and as assigned coordination of seasonal programs including Christmas, Summer Camping Program and other special events.
- Participate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council and Youth and Adult Planning Committees.
- Property upkeep and facility preparation for programming.
- Participate in corps financial goals by observing budget and support of fund-raising efforts.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Work with other staff, public, clients, program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside groups, and community residents. Position works directly with the corps officer. Will supervise youth and program participants, volunteers, and community service workers. PERFORMANCE MEASURMENTS This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved through 30-60-90-day goals. EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Must be a Christian with the intent of entering ministry.
- This individual must be of good character and maturity.
- Three to four years of college or three to four years in full-time non-Salvation Army ministry preferred.
- Flexibility in work hours and job responsibilities is a must.
- Valid Driver's license/MVR clearance.

POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will keep the corps officer informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT (Physical requirements to perform job functions.)
- This position is required to do (no, moderate, significant) physical work and must be able to lift (5, 10, etc.) pounds.
- In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and PC, and participation in athletic activities.
- The work environment for this position includes an office and community center environment with a high noise level.
- Must be able to drive and walk stairs.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
