Overview PURPOSE STATEMENT: Performs as a hands-on crew leader and performs the more difficult/complex/diverse tasks required for or relating to the proper installation and maintenance of LPG tank and cylinders and related appurtenances, following specific policies/procedures/methods/codes. Performs as a Tank Truck Driver and performs the requirements of tank maintenance duties under the Tank Maintenance Program, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Interprets and/or works from sketches/blueprints/field drawings/written specifications or verbal/written orders on assigned tasks to determines nature/extent of the job, and the required procedures, tools, and materials such as pipe and regulator sizing; prepares Conducts site visits to scope out new gas services or maintenance requirements and coordinates work with customer, their contractor, and/or other internal support personnel. Requisitions stock supplies and equipment required for the job. Responsible for all assigned trucks, tools, equipment, and material; assures that assigned truck is adequately stocked and equipped before leaving for job site; creates parts reservations on computer or uses procurement card to purchase and restock truck inventory.
Qualifications Minimum Education & Work Experience: At least four years of successful and progressive experience in work with LPG of which two years must have been as an Installer 2/C or Installer Helper at this branch with demonstrated good working knowledge of its operational requirements and activities. Demonstrated leadership qualities to include the ability to direct and coordinate the work of others in a harmonious fashion, and to plan and skillfully lay out work. Must be qualified as Installer 1/C and Tank Truck Driver. Proven excellent interpersonal skills for the locality and has a work record of dealing tactfully and courteously with customers, employees and the public. Must be a safe and competent driver, cognizant of all traffic laws and have a clean traffic abstract. Possesses a very good working knowledge of departmental operating rules and procedures, pertinent codes (such as NFPA #58 and #59; gas sections of the county plumbing code; DOT/PUC safety and construction standards for the installation, operation and repair of the gas supply system; and State fire codes pertaining to the proper installation of LPG equipment) and safety rules/regulations/practices in addition to departmental operating rules and procedures, and standard practices and procedures of the trades. Qualified in all phases of the work described including the knowledge and ability to interpret and follow specifications, prepare accurate diagrams and field sketches of completed work with proven expertise to effectively install and maintain LPG tanks, cylinders and associated appurtenances. Very proficient in the proper use of the tools, materials and equipment of the trade and have a good safety record; ability to use computer. Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation: Completed all required Department of Transportation Federal/State, OSHA Federal/State and NFPA courses and programs. Must maintain at least minimum passing scores per regulations, for all recurring Federal/State and NFPA courses or programs. Must possess a valid Class B, CDL license with Hazardous Material endorsement, Crane Operator's certificate, a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per 49 CFR 391.41 through 391.49, and appropriate clearance certificate such as TWIC. |
