POSITION SPECIFICS Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is hiring aDeputy Athletic Director for Strategic Engagement & Brand Advancement to lead branding, marketing, and athlete-focused initiatives for one of the most visible brands in college sports. This executive leader will oversee creative strategy, social media, and Penn State's content platforms while driving storytelling around the expandingROAR+membership and building out thePenn State Brand Academyto empower student-athletes in the NIL era. The role will also provide sport administration leadership and play a key role on the department's executive team. Key Responsibilities
- Leadstrategic storytelling, branding, and fan engagement campaignsfor department-wide initiatives, highlighting significance for fans, athletes, and the broader community.
- Oversee theMarketing, Social Media, Creative Services, and Brandingteams, ensuring consistency, creativity, and alignment with institutional values across all platforms.
- Serve as the primary architect ofROAR+and thePenn State Brand Academy, developing innovative athlete branding content, NIL education resources, and platforms to enhance student-athlete visibility and value.
- Develop and implement strategies to increaseROAR+ memberships, content engagement, and the overall digital brand footprint of Penn State Athletics.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to execute cross-functional campaigns that elevate thePenn State Athletics brand, support capital initiatives, and amplify award and recognition efforts.
- Providesport administrationfor assigned programs, ensuring holistic support for coaching staffs, student-athletes, and competitive success.
- Contribute to the department's approach to national issues in collegiate athletics, includingNIL evolution, athlete branding opportunities, and collaborating to support revenue generation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
- At least 10 years of senior leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics, branding, marketing, digital engagement, or external relations.
- Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and executing brand, content, and digital strategies at the Power Five level.
- Proven ability to develop and implement innovative athlete branding and NIL education programs.
- Excellent communication, creative vision, and collaborative leadership skills.

- Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to lead across multiple platforms and audiences.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
