The Focused Improvement Specialist (FIS) will be responsible for supporting the Supplier Quality Development Organization in resolving quality and throughput issues, implementing structured problem-solving techniques, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The FIS will provide cross-functional support within NAFTA (supplier base and FCA Assembly Plants) and will be responsible for coaching and teaching problem-solving methodologies in both on-site and classroom environments. The candidate will lead, direct, and technically seek solutions to root causes, as well as manage improvement projects as the subject matter expert. Note: This role will require working at supplier locations approximately 80-90% of the time, providing hands-on support and coaching.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Ability to root cause quickly and accurately frame issue(s), identify the problem(s), and provide effective resolutions
  • Ability to apply advanced problem-solving tools to resolve quality and non-conformance issues
  • Serve as a coach for Kepner-Tregoe and Shainin techniques
  • Lead focused improvement workshops and kaizen events to eliminate waste and improve process efficiency at supplier locations
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple Supplier Quality projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Facilitate training sessions to build supplier capability in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; other degrees with relevant work experience may be considered
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing
  • Certified Shainin Red X black belt or Master Candidate with experience in a variety of manufacturing processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel freely across international borders
