Position Highlights |
This position supports a wide range of departmental operations, including administrative tasks such as managing key and CatCard requests, coordinating space assignments, and serving as the point of contact for University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) Amer-X Security, Inc., and student organizations. It oversees building maintenance by addressing minor repairs, facilities requests, custodial issues, and office cleanouts. The role also manages non-educational lab needs, including equipment disposal, lab renovations, hazardous waste handling, and safety enforcement. In educational labs, responsibilities include maintaining consumable inventories, equipment upkeep, in-class tech support, and assisting with installation or removal of lab equipment. The position also contributes to long-term lab improvements and support Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) related activities tied to Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME) teaching laboratories. Duties & Responsibilities |
Educational Laboratory Tasks
- Managing consumable inventories.
- Maintaining/fixing equipment.
- Tech support of equipment during classes.
- Involvement in the installation/training of new equipment added to teaching laboratories and discarding old equipment.
- Longer-term improvements/renovations to the teaching laboratories.
- Assisting ABET requirements related to teaching laboratories.
Department Administrative Tasks
- Key/CatCard requests.
- Space assignment/availability.
- Being the point of contact for UAPD/Amer-X, etc.
- Being the point of contact for student clubs/organizations.
- Implementing safety protocols provided by Risk Management in teaching and research laboratories.
Building Maintenance Tasks
- Minor repairs.
- Facilities requests.
- Custodial issues.
- Office cleanout
Non-Educational Laboratory Tasks
- Surplusing/disposing of old equipment
- Lab cleanouts and renovations.
- Hazardous waste disposal.
- Enforcing safety procedures/handling safety issues.
- Assist new faculty members with setting up their laboratories, ensuring awareness of campus resources (machine shops, maintenance), and safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advance learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree in engineering, a science-related filed, or business administration.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
