Salary Range: $50,000-60,000

Position Summary
The Assistant Director, Pre-College and Summer provides supported direction to the enrollment, onboarding, retention, supervision, and support of pre-college students at Temple University. The primary focus of this role will be on summer pre-college programs, but the role will also have some responsibility for student outreach and engagement for year-round after-school, weekend or other summer programs that either currently exist, or that will be created in the future, including Saturday College, which meets monthly during the academic year.

The role encompasses various facets of program management, from overseeing enrollment processes using LLEE and other tools, to strategically analyzing and projecting enrollment trends for improved recruiting outcomes. This role assists in the development and implementation of a coordinated recruiting strategy. The Assistant Director manages the pre-college recruitment calendar, builds relationships with high school counselors, represents Temple University at recruitment events and trains student workers to represent Temple at events in their absence. This person may also coordinate with internal departments that provide funding to pre-college to recruit students who meet specific demographic criteria in accordance with the funding requirements.

The Assistant Director will develop and implement communication strategies, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for students and fostering parental engagement. This person will also take charge of the logistics for the out-of-classroom student experience in the residence hall and in other aspects of student life. To that effect, this role will assist in the supervision and training of a team of student workers, including residential pre-college mentors and a residential coordinator. This role will support this team to create a positive on-campus housing and student life experience that minimizes risk to the university and ensures compliance with best practices and legal requirements for working with minors on campus. Finally, this role will also manage the residential life and student activities budget, and coordinate with relevant internal and external partners to oversee logistics and spending in these areas.

Lastly, the Assistant Director will assist with several aspects of data collection and reporting, such as creating and implementing the pre- and post-program student surveys, ensuring high rates of completion, and analyzing responses for trends. The Assistant Director will use this data to make recommendations for improved program strategy, policy, and procedure and will assist in the compilation of various reports for the Office of Summer and Pre-College Programs.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in the Fall and Spring semesters and is required to be 100% on-site from May-August each year. This position is based at Main Campus and is part of the University College. The University College is responsible for the operations of the Ambler, Center City, and Harrisburg Campuses, as well as offering programs and activities across multiple Temple campuses and locations.

This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse clearance and FBI fingerprinting.

Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree
* Three (3) or more years of directly related experience working with minors, preferably in an educational environment
* Demonstrated familiarity with pre-college and student life programs
* Demonstrated experience working with high school students
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
* Excellent customer service skills and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and knowledge of effective office practices
* Strong writing skills and a high degree of proficiency in the use of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
* Ability to use initiative and sound judgment in the performance of duties
* Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends when pre-college programs or on-campus events are in session
* Ability to work fully in person when programs are in session as many as 7 days per week from May - August.
* Ability to demonstrate and encourage professional standards and organizational values, especially among student worker staff, to ensure a high-quality pre-college student experience
* Ability to maintain positive morale of student worker team; identifies and works with management to address morale issues, especially those that affect the pre-college student experience
* Ability to travel regionally and nationally to represent Temple University at student recruiting events and professional development meetings or conferences when requested
* Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, and ability to meet the needs of different audiences
* Required proficiency in Microsoft Office, presentation software (Canva, Prezi, or other), and student information systems
