Overview

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist (ST), sometimes referred to as a Surgical Tech or OR Tech. The Surgical Technologist (ST) in our operating room, assists surgeons, nurses, and other surgical team members before, during, and after surgical procedures. Surgical Techs primary goal is to help ensure safe, efficient, and sterile surgical environments.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Preoperative Preparation - Set up the operating room by sterilizing and arranging instruments supplies and equipment while preparing patients for surgery through proper positioning and sterile draping
  • Intraoperative Support - Assist during surgery by passing instruments maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgical team's needs while tracking instruments and sponges
  • Postoperative Duties - Support postoperative care by applying dressings transporting patients to recovery and cleaning and restocking the operating room
  • Safety and Compliance - Follow strict infection control protocols ensure safe handling of specimens and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
  • Collaboration and Communication - Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and sterile processing staff while communicating effectively in high-pressure situations


Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).

2. Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in various surgical specialties (i.e. General, Ortho, Urology and GYN).

3. Current BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

4. Two to Three years experience working in an operating room setting or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) upon hire and maintained current

5. Must be proficient in the following specialties within 6 months: a. Gen b. Gyn c. Urol d. Vasc e. ENT/Plastics

6. Must be proficient one of the following specialties within 6 months: a. Major Vascular b. Ortho c. Neuro

7. Proficient is defined as the associate can perform cases in that specialty independently.
