Your Role:

The Senior Field Service Engineer performs all of the duties of the Field Service Engineer in addition to providing on the job training and remote support to less experienced personnel. Is expected to be of higher technical proficiency and will be required to travel out of territory to provide direct onsite support to resolve issues that could not be resolved by others. May be the first service employee to be trained on new technology and is expected to transfer initial experience and lessons learned to other members of the service team. Provides initial new product performance feedback to the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Mentor and support less experienced and new service engineers.
  • Provide on the job training to service engineers as assigned.
  • Assigned complex service jobs that cannot be performed by less experienced service engineers.
  • Typically support the launch of new products, which may include supporting Beta instruments in the field without complete documentation and minimal training.
  • Provide feedback to Service Support regarding in-field product performance, reliability, and serviceability and regarding service procedures and methods to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct onsite service activities at customer locations throughout a multi-state geographic region. Services performed include repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, and various levels of validation services on complex scientific instrumentation.
  • Work independently without direct supervision or ready access to technical support in all cases.
  • Plan, prioritize and schedule jobs, including organizing travel, coordinating with customers and sales personnel, organizing parts, tools, and other materials to assure they are available at the job sites.
  • Complete various reports including service reports, validation reports, expense reports, inventory reports, and ad hoc reports as required.
  • Update various systems and databases.
  • Manage a parts inventory and a company sponsored expense account.
  • Ongoing and frequent travel required, including weekly overnight domestic and international travel.


Requirements:



  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in a technical or mechanical discipline, or equivalent Military Technical Training and a minimum of 4 years directly related experience servicing instruments of similar complexity in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong proven communication and judgement skills providing technical support to employees or customers.


Other Requirements:



  • Must be comfortable working with potentially bio-hazardous materials and be able to travel a minimum of 50%.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, evidence of insurance / insurability, and ability to receive appropriate clearance to access restricted government accounts.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds alone or up to 80 pounds dual lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to handle more than one task at a time and must work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a variety of facilities. This person will have an office environment for about half of the work performance, which is temperature controlled. This job requires the person to be mobile to visit customer sites. Due to the travel requirements, this position may be exposed to natural elements of nature. Used research/clinical equipment may be handled in this job and strict SOPs and PPE must be worn.

The hiring range for this position is expected to fall between $67,00 - $72,899/year, reflecting the range candidates can reasonably expect to be considered for at time of offer, based on factors such as experience, internal equity, and qualifications.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of considerations, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialization, skills, abilities, and training. The above range represents the Company's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting.

In addition to your salary, the Company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements. Certain positions may also be eligible for additional compensation such as bonuses or commissions.
