Overview
The Compact Commercial Manager will drive the strategic expansion and retail integration of Caterpillar Compact Equipment, beginning in South Carolina's Upstate region and extending into additional markets across the state. Reporting to the Director of Sales, this role is responsible for developing and executing targeted growth strategies, aligning internal teams, and enhancing the overall customer retail experience. As the central cross-functional leader, the Compact Commercial Manager will collaborate closely with Rental, Product Support, Parts, Marketing, Sales, Used Equipment, and Facilities to ensure a unified and consistent customer journey across all retail touchpoints. Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Strategic Market Development: Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies for Caterpillar Compact Equipment in the Upstate region with clear KPIs, market share targets, and customer engagement objectives.
- Retail Integration Leadership: Lead initiatives to build and scale a consistent compact retail experience across Blanchard's South Carolina footprint, ensuring alignment with company-wide retail objectives and customer expectations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders in Rental, Product Support, Parts, Marketing, Sales, Used, and Facilities to align compact equipment initiatives with operational capabilities and branding standards.
- Customer Experience Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance the customer journey within the compact retail segment, including facility layout, product availability, service experience, and brand representation.
- Data-Driven Planning: Utilize sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to inform decision-making and refine growth strategies.
- Brand Stewardship: Serve as a champion of the Caterpillar brand, ensuring consistent messaging, customer engagement, and brand presence within the compact segment.
- Expansion Planning: Support and lead efforts to expand compact equipment strategies into additional regions of South Carolina, using lessons learned from the Upstate pilot market.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction equipment sales, retail strategy, or business development-preferably with Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment brands
- Proven track record of driving growth and leading cross-functional initiatives
- Strong understanding of compact equipment customer needs and retail buying behaviors.
- Experience working in a dealer environment (CAT dealer experience highly preferred)
- Knowledge of South Carolina construction markets and customer base
- Previous involvement in facility or retail location launches or remodels
- Exceptional communication, project management, and leadership skills
- Proficient in data analysis, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel within South Carolina as required.
- Possess a valid Driver's License with less than three moving violations in the past three years.
Working Conditions
- The physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside throughout the year.
- Travel 25% of the time throughout the Blanchard CAT territory, as well as outside of the Blanchard CAT territory when needed.
- Position requires employee to be physically present at jobsites.
- Requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
- Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
- Use of computers and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
