- Annual salary range: $105,000 to $125,000, commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications.
What You Will Do: The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the plant, with a strong emphasis on cost accounting. This position ensures accurate inventory valuation, cost analysis, and financial reporting while partnering with operations and supply chain teams to drive efficiency and profitability.
- Manage cost accounting activities including maintaining accurate books and records and strong internal control processes.
- Owns standard cost calculations and partners with plant staff to ensure proper bill of material maintenance and routings.
- Supports preparation of financial analyses including variance analyses, and monthly management reporting.
- Improves plant's financial status by analyzing results versus forecasts; identifying trends; recommending profitable actions.
- Performs month end closing processes, primarily related to the plant's inventories and cost.
- Assists with general accounting duties for the business unit accounting team including certain balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany entries, monthly financial reporting and other journal entries as needed.
- Assists with preparation of monthly detailed Inventory Reserve for Inventory reporting and works with Plant Leadership to ensure the accuracy of reported inventories.
- Prepares cost/projection analysis of new business opportunities and existing business relationships, including pricing new business and maintaining prices on existing business.
- Partners with local operations leadership to plan, execute and record inventory counts and controls.
- Performs special projects aimed at supporting various Operational Excellence initiatives, controlling expenses, increasing profits, improving cash flow, and improving efficiency at the plant. (e.g. Quote vs. Standard vs. Actual analysis on orders that have shipped)
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures. Demonstrates sound knowledge of GAAP and consistently upholds fiduciary responsibilities to API with integrity.

What You Bring:
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Business or related, and at least three years' experience in cost accounting
- Service oriented approach where you partner with internal and external customers.
- Ability to understand the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes; knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process and manufacturing principles
- Proven experience assessing problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the issue
- Experience analyzing transactional level details in an ERP (Oracle, Peoplesoft, PLEX or similar) system and articulate the key findings to management
- Advanced MS Office Skills; Advanced EXCEL user, Pivot table, VLOOKUP, etc.
