Pay Range

$103,500 - $131,256 Annually

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.


Job Description

We have an opening for aCritical Infrastructure Cybersecurity (CIC) Project Engineer. You will track project health across the CIC portfolio and work with the Associate Program Leader and Principal Investigators to help ensure strong project execution and program development. You will track milestones, prepare project reporting for sponsors and other materials, participate in project and sponsor meetings, help prepare monthly program updates and support proposal writing and development. You will provide technical support to projects as needed, including background research, data collection and analysis, technical writing and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for interfacing with a broad range of internal stakeholders, principal investigators, APLs, and technical staff. This position is in the Energy and Homeland Security's Cyber and Infrastructure Resilience Program within the Global Security Directorate and supports the Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity Associate Program Leader.

Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

You will

  • Track schedules, milestones, deliverables and budgets across the portfolio using standard practices and techniques.
  • Use current project management methods and tools to ensure successful programmatic project execution, including improving internal processes, reviewing status of projects, and preparing status reports and other documentation as well as identifying issues on projects for program leadership.
  • Participate in customer meetings and ensure tracking and follow up on action items for resolution.
  • Participate in program development activities, develop project proposals, deliver presentations to stakeholders and senior managers on work performed and statuses of current technical capabilities.
  • Independently contribute providing technical support on cybersecurity projects, including, but not limited to, literature surveys, technical writing, data collection and analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Communicate project status to project team, resolve issues, and maintain project file documentation suitable for audit review both during and after completion of project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Policy or Computer Science, or related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a team environment among multi-discipline personnel. Posess sufficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain project plans and updates to management and customers.
  • Experience using MS Office business applications and web-based collaborative platforms, such as JIRA, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Visio.
  • Fundamental knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, including project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and baseline control. Experience utilizing analytical, process flow, problem solving, customer relationship, organization, and conflict resolution skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience effectively applying good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills to identify solutions and resolve issues.
  • Ability to communicate clear technical expectations on project and process activities, as well as lead the facilitation of business processes and improvements.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining project budgets.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing federal government projects.
  • Experience combining complex technical content and analyses from multiple sources and translating it into clear, actionable documentation for government stakeholders.
  • Experience writing programmatic guidelines and concepts of operations (CONOPS) for government sponsors.
