Mutual of Omaha has an immediate full-time opening on our dynamic team for an accountant specializing in tax accounting and reporting. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to ensure compliance with federal tax regulations, including accurate withholding, reporting, and payment of Social Security and Medicare (FICA) taxes. This role will actively participate in an environment of learning, experimentation, and interactive feedback that embraces change and innovation.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications)
Finance Analyst: $65,000-$75,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
Senior Finance Analyst: $75,000-$85,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Champion the FICA Tax process for worksite disability policyholders.
Calculate, withhold, and remit employee and employer portions of FICA taxes in accordance with IRS regulations.
Coordinate the preparation and filing of Forms 941 and W-2 to ensure proper tax reporting.
Assist in the preparation of 5500 employee benefit plans utilizing ERISA requirements.
Respond to FICA and 5500 related notices, inquiries, and changes through shared inbox.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Social Security and Medicare tax limits and changes.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Strong knowledge of finance and/or accounting practices and procedures preferably common to an insurance industry finance environment.
Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and create efficiencies for the team.
Desire to continually improve self while maintaining a curiosity to grow.
Strong problem-solving and judgment-making abilities.
Self-driven with demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and influence change with peers and business partners.
Ability to establish deadlines and execute them.

Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
PREFERRED:
Advanced level degree or equivalent experience in Finance related field.
Understanding of statutory and tax accounting and/or insurance business processes.
Designation specific to the Finance field.
