We have an opportunity for a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to join our North Aurora, IL team. You will be responsible for the supervision of assigned areas within a manufacturing environment that may include machining, assembly, packaging, receiving, and shipping. The Production Supervisor coordinates activities of assigned production employees and works with the team to resolve daily challenges, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, facilitate continuous process improvements, manage daily order execution and workforce flexibility. This role manages productivity, efficiency, process adherence and cross training to support the improvements of production floor Key Process Indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Cash. You will:
- Provide daily supervision and support of employees in the respective work areas, which includes assignment of work, managing employee performance issues, and maintaining staffing levels.
- Department responsibilities will include receiving and processing incoming material, accurately picking, and delivering material to production lines and work cells, accurately transacting material in and out of the warehouse.
- Maintain a cross-training matrix and identify and provide training for employees as needed to ensure adequate skills coverage.
- Identify issues that cause schedule interruptions and work with support departments to solve problems proactively.
- Coach employee performance to improve productivity, manage attendance, and ensure compliance with work procedures.
- Utilize performance correction counseling to ensure fair and consistent expectations for all employees.
- Work closely with inventory management, sourcing, Lean, Quality, Human Resources / Safety to identify and solve problems that interfere with the daily achievement of production.
- Manage the work areas 5S and other Lean initiatives. Participate in Kaizen events.
- Responsible for communicating safety expectations in work areas and working proactively to minimize safety hazards.
- Perform near miss and accident investigations. Communicate hazards to others to prevent repeated incidents and raise the issue with maintenance or management. Complete safety cross and other reports as needed.
- Drive quality assurance program in accordance with ISO 9000. Identify and respond to corrective actions.
- Ensure the department is following all company policies and procedures.
- Proactively respond to employee concerns and ensure timely follow up to questions.
- Maintain daily / weekly /monthly production reports. Carry out standard work expectations.
- Significant emphasis and expectation to use Lean tools to improve business results and coach subordinates.
- Monitor Kanban, WIP and Plan for Every Part and notify Inventory Control to control variation while ensuring employees execute inventory transactions properly.
- Execute Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metric charts impeccably while soliciting input from the workforce.
Hours:
- 2nd Shift: Monday through Friday 3 PM-11 PM CST, with occasional overtime as needed.
Key Qualifications:
- Must have 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing receiving environment. Managing teams of warehouse, material handling, and cycle counting employees preferred.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of lean principles and processes.
- 3+ years' experience working in a lean environment.
- Working knowledge of 5S, lean metrics, root cause countermeasure, 5 Why, One Piece Flow, Kanban, continuous improvement, employee participation and level scheduling, is preferred.
- Must have experience using SAP.
- Must have experience in Microsoft Excel and proficient in additional MS Suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Must be capable of effective communications with various levels of personnel.
- Must be able to effectively lead and motivate a team.
- Must be able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be capable of properly handling confidential information.
- Must possess math aptitude necessary to do inventory calculations.
- Must be capable of walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting to 40 lbs.
Compensation: For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71000- 131800/ year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with a demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
