The NPD Engineer performs professional-level engineering duties focused on the development of new products.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Conduct testing per verbal guidelines, or safety/performance standards.
  • Compile data to demonstrate results using spreadsheets, graphs, tables.
  • Mechanical, electrical assembly of prototypes, test equipment, and controls
  • Observe lab safety guidelines.
  • Evaluate product compliance with safety/performance standards, or specifications.
  • Interface with third party agencies or test labs during product certification testing
  • Trouble shoot field problems in house or on-site as needed.
  • Assist in the Creation of drawings, bills of materials and specifications.
  • Work with manufacturing, on prototype and validation builds.
  • Uses SolidWorks to explore design ideas and explore design ideas.
  • Works with design personnel and NPD Engineers to develop new products.
  • Explore ways to reduce development of products.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a professional engineering capacity.

The expected salary range for this position is $78,000 - $92,000 yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.

MIMIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Understanding of measurement techniques and principals.
  • Experience creating and reading 2D CAD drawings.
  • Experience with Microsoft products
  • Experience with SolidWorks.

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISON:

  • None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently requires problem solving, analyzing and interpreting data, and extended focus.
  • Position may requires sitting at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Understanding of deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to compare and evaluate possible courses of conduct and act or make decisions after various possibilities have been considered.
  • Ability to make effective and sound decisions having significant impact on the business.
  • Regularly operates a personal computer and express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Frequently involves sitting and simple grasping.
  • Occasionally walks, stands, bends, squats, climbs, kneels, twists, power grasps, performs fine manipulation, push and pull, reach above and below shoulder level, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to focus.
