BCBSNE is happy to offer three work designations for our Omaha area employees: in-office, hybrid, and remote.
If choosing to work remote, this role can be located in one of the following states: Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Texas.

Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Accounts Receivable and Claims Recovery teams. This role ensures accurate billing, deposit processing, and reconciliation of approximately $1.3 billion in annual insured premiums, as well as the collection of $52.3 million in claims recoveries. Collaborates cross-functionally with Customer Service, Provider Relations, and other departments to resolve escalated inquiries and ensure a seamless customer experience.

What you'll do:

  • Team Leadership & Oversight
    • Supervise Accounts Receivable and Claims Recovery staff, ensuring timely and accurate processing of billing and recoveries.
    • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities to team members.
  • Billing & Recovery Operations
    • Oversee rate verification for new and renewal business.
    • Manage profit share refund processes for the BlueFlex line of business.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Delinquency & Reinstatement Management
    • Lead the delinquency and reinstatement process, including decision-making authority on reinstatement terms.
    • Monitor trends and implement process improvements to reduce delinquency rates.
  • Systems & Process Improvement
    • Participate in system modernization (SYSMOD) initiatives related to Accounts Receivable and Claims Recovery.
    • Support implementation of new products and programs impacting billing and recovery workflows.
  • Policy & Documentation
    • Maintain and update MAR documentation, policies, and procedures for the individual and fully insured group market segments.
    • Ensure alignment with regulatory and compliance standards.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Associates degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field or related experience.
  • Minimum three (3+) years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or claims recovery, with at least one (1+) years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Experience with enterprise billing systems and financial software.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments.

The ability to work well in a team environment and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.
