Department of Security Management:

The Department of Security's mission is to maintain the highest level of security at UCF. We accomplish this by researching, implementing, and enhancing security technologies, leveraging on industry best practices, and raising awareness to improve the quality of life for the UCF community. Our goal is to enhance security by maintaining a secure and open environment where the safety of all is balanced with the rights of the individual.

The Opportunity:

Security Management Coordinators are responsible for overseeing and maintaining security technology systems, including hardware and software. They coordinate the installation and ongoing maintenance of physical security infrastructure and collaborate closely with Information Technology, external vendors, the UCF Police Department, and all campus departments utilizing security systems.

Responsibilities:


  • Performance, management, and oversight of physical security system maintenance-related activities, including identifying the proper vendor or department to address concerns, reviewing and approving vendor proposals for needed repairs and upgrades, and determining whether scopes of work meet current building code and internal UCF design and construction standards. Review and approve invoices for payment.

  • Manages access control and camera installations, and coordinates processes and schedules with security integrator and internal UCF departments. This includes identifying proper vendors/departments to provide services, reviewing and approving vendor scopes of work proposals for installations, and determining whether scopes of work meet current building code and internal UCF design and construction standards.

  • Developing, interpreting, reviewing, and approving scopes of work, project bidding packages, and project budgets. Attends construction meetings and provides directions to contractors and vendors regarding the physical security scope.

  • Administers required training for physical security systems. Manages integration and final test, acceptance, and programming of physical security systems.

  • Contributes toward design, development, and publication of physical security system standards (example includes, based on current University needs/requests, identifying new hardware and installation processes that can benefit the University by saving money and/or becoming more secure, and maximizing system lifespan/reliability and maintainability).

  • Respond to special projects, emergency events with short notice, and support campus events and activities.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3-5 years experience designing, installing, and maintaining physical security systems to include electronic card access control and security cameras.

  • Previous experience providing customer service to both internal teams and external clients.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external vendors.

  • Experience working in a higher education or large institutional environment.

  • Experience coordinating with law enforcement or public safety agencies, such as campus police.

  • Proficiency with security management software platforms (Milestone, DNA Fusion, etc.).

  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and IP-based security systems.

  • Strong understanding of data privacy and compliance standards, such as FERPA, HIPAA, and Clery Act regulations.
