Position Overview
The Public Management Center is the professional development arm of the School of Public Affairs and Administration. The Public Management Center offers professional education and consulting services focused on skills enhancement for leaders, managers, staff, and teams in public agencies. The Center earns and utilizes revenue from professional education programs, consulting services, and conferences. The Center staff are motivated by a deep belief that public service-and skilled public service professionals-are at the heart of a healthy democracy.
The Center invites qualified professionals to apply for part-time Instructional positions for our in-person and online professional development classes and consulting engagements. Positions vary and are dependent upon the needs of the professional development programs, of class participants and clients, and of client organizations. The appointment dates will vary based on sequence of the professional development program, the timeframe for the preparation, and client needs. Instruction in professional development programs can range from three days per month once per year to a recurring series of days several times per year. Consulting contacts vary by the needs of the client but generally range from one to three full days of instruction or facilitation. Instructors are needed in a variety of leadership and management content areas including civic engagement, conflict management, communication skills, customer service, decision-making, emotional intelligence, innovation, knowledge management, leadership, organizational change, performance management, process improvement, public policy, strategic planning, team building, trust and wellbeing. Instructors are also sought for the following assessment: Core Strengths, Clifton Strengths, Emergenetics, EQi 2.0 and Myers Briggs. Application materials will be reviewed by the Center's program leaders on a regular basis and will place applicants in a pool for consideration when instruction is scheduled.
