Position Overview
Working closely with the Vice Provost of KLETC, the Digital Media Specialist provides services for digital media projects in the form of graphic design, social media management, and website management. These services support all courses and programs offered through KLETC and the Center for Public Safety Leadership.

Hutchinson Campus Overview

The Hutchinson Campus consists of 173 acres with fifteen buildings including two multi-story residential student dormitories.

The Hutchinson Campus is home to the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC). A unit of The University of Kansas (KU), KLETC serves as the central agency for all law enforcement training in the State of Kansas. KLETC manages a $12 million annual budget, 65 authorized FTE staff (augmented by more than 400 contract/adjunct staff annually), and trains nearly 15,000 students annually in residential, online, and outreach programs. KLETC serves 437 recognized law enforcement and police agencies in Kansas, providing basic training and continuing education programs throughout each fiscal year.

Job Description
50% Media and Graphic Design Production
  • Capture and produce all social media content. Production work includes but is not limited to graphic overlay/design and editing.
  • Create graphics for a variety of projects including, but not limited to, promotional materials, marketing content, websites, and job postings.
  • Identify target audiences and develop social media content with specific objectives across different channels and segments.
  • Identify effectiveness and impact of current social media initiatives with tracking and analysis and optimize accordingly.
  • Increases brand awareness and market share at both a local and national level through social media platforms.
30% Content Development and Project Management
  • Provide content for media projects, ensuring consistency across the program portfolio.
  • Develop content and media for dissemination via social media, websites, and other distribution.
  • Ensure that key messages align with the Vice Provost's strategic plan.
  • Build and manage KLETC's social media profile and presence.
10% Program Support
  • Collaborate with unit heads to ensure program goals will be met through social media content.
  • Meet with appropriate staff to review media production steps to ensure social media content and graphic design content is targeting the appropriate audience.
  • Work closely with the Vice Provost to develop measurable objectives and evaluate projects against those standards.
10% Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
This position is on-site at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) located in Hutchinson, KS. A valid driver's license is required.

Required Qualifications
  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, communications, or relevant field or an associate's degree plus two (2) years of related experience, or four (4) years of related experience.
  2. Excellent written communication skills as evidenced in application materials.
  3. Valid Kansas driver's license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience with customer relationship management principles and tools as evidenced by application materials.
  2. Experience developing successful creative campaigns as evidenced by application materials.
  3. Experience in developing brand strategy or campaign plans as evidenced by application materials.
  4. Experience working with teams on large-scale, long-term projects as evidenced by application materials.
  5. Experience that required prioritization skills to establish and manage critical deadlines for self and team as evidenced by application materials.
  6. Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the desire to contribute to issue-identification and problem-solving, as evidenced in application materials and interview.
  7. Work experience that required the ability to respond to direction and adapt to frequent changes in project tactics, creative strategy, and/or deadlines as evidenced by application materials.
  8. Minimum of two (2) years experience in graphic design, to include experience with graphic design software.
  9. Experience with website design and management as evidenced by application materials.
