Job Summary
The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Communications & Marketing Specialist. This individual will create communications, marketing and promotional material and messaging across a variety of platforms.

The ideal candidate will be someone with strong writing skills and an understanding of public relations and marketing strategies and tactics who can help amplify the college's academic programs, research, student success, patient outcomes and alumni outcomes through paid, earned, shared and owned media channels. This individual will support the development and execution of public relations and marketing campaigns, create content, assist with project management, and help ensure consistent messaging across all communications channels.

Essential Functions

  • Assists college's Director of Communications & Marketing with incoming project requests, coordination of project timelines and development of collateral
  • Researches and creates content for dissemination through a variety of mediums, including social media, website, publications, e-newsletters and media releases
  • Content creation, content/style editing, copywriting
  • Assists with media relations, including the proactive pitching of story opportunities and college expertise to traditional and specialty media
  • Evaluates effectiveness of communications, public relations and marketing programs and campaigns
  • Coordinates marketing and communication calendars, production schedules and deadlines, including of work that may be carried out by external vendors
  • May maintain files, databases and electronic records of materials
  • Familiar with Associated Press Style
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Depending on the combination of education and experience, the selected finalist will be hired as a Specialist, Communications & Marketing - Dept, and assigned level I, II, or III.

Level I requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field with no experience.

Level II requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field with 2 years of experience in marketing and communications services to include print journalism.

Level III requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field with 4 years of experience in marketing and communications services to include print journalism.
