A Brief Overview
This is a full-time position with the cardiac cath lab. Hours are Monday though Friday 11am-7:30pm with some rotation as needed. The Perioperative Core Technician works under the direction and supervision of a Clinical Coordinator and the Perioperative Core Tech Supervisor in performing the necessary duties that assist in the coordination and completion of the daily patient caseload in the Operating Room (OR) Complex.

What you will do

  • Transports patients to the operating room holding area.
  • Reviews and analyzes daily surgical caseload to determine surgical equipment and supplies needed. Completes OR suite turnover, as well as, transports, opens and sets-up case relevant supplies and equipment for all surgical cases. Assists in patient positioning. Performs related duties as needed.
  • Demonstrates Aseptic and Sterile Technique as defined in AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) & JCAHO Standards for all anesthesia and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and capital equipment in the OR Complex.
  • Follows Institutional Clinical Laboratory Protocols and Standards for Specimen Handling and Blood Products.
  • Assists with the maintenance/stocking of disposable supplies, surgical instruments, and related equipment in the OR Complex.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED - Required
  • Associate's Degree Health Sciences field - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year operating room experience or equivalent technical experience in a health-related field - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks according to Unit's needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Good organizational skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - upon hire - Preferred
