Join the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) team, where you'll contribute to groundbreaking innovations! We are seeking applicants for a Software Engineer position to join our Strategic Military Space (SMS) Division. The UX Developer will design, implement, and advise on good user interfaces that are focused on customer interactions and experiences and not simply functionality. The goal is to implement intuitive interfaces that improve usability while supporting our technical goals.

The Strategic & Military Space Division delivers advanced satellite and sensor systems that support the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. Our division is a key component of national security, providing technological solutions and expert mission support. Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and advises programs on best practices for UX/UI needs
  • Generates mockups and wire frames that communicate user needs
  • Leads UX research and/or user surveys as needed for our programs
  • Designs, implements, tests, and maintains code for internal and external customers
  • Collaborates with the customers, external and internal partners, external vendors, Program Manager(s), and Developers to meet design goals
  • May provide operational support for existing systems
  • May evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
  • May lead small teams and/or projects, including leadership to other members of the team

Required Qualifications:
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance
  • BS or higher degree in engineering, computer science, or related degree and 3 - 13 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to respond resourcefully to new demands and challenges
  • Attention to detail and management of information design
  • The following qualifications are based on years of experience and are expected to range from Proficient to Mastery for this position
    • Understanding of UX principles, best practices, and user behaviors and experiences
    • Utilize HTML, CSS, TypeScript, JavaScript, modern frameworks (Angular preferred)
    • Programming languages (C#, Python) and design paradigms
    • Technical skills in the full software engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, etc.)
    • Proven organization and planning skills
    • Ability to present technical concepts in design reviews to technical and non-technical audiences
    • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to junior Engineers
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities (debugging, architecting, etc.)

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstration of a design portfolio or examples of work
  • Experience in creating user and developer documentation
  • Ability to develop, debug, and deploy containerized solutions (Docker, K8S, Helm, etc.)
  • Full-stack software development
  • Experience researching user interface requirements

*Salary Range
  • $83,000 - $131,000
    • Salary commensurate based on education and experience

The range displayed in the job advertisement reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries across all US locations.
