JOB MISSION:

New Balance is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to help lead and elevate our engineering practices across the board - including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, pipelines, testing frameworks, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience throughout the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) - from initial architecture and design through implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, and long-term maintenance. You'll play a critical role in shaping technical direction, mentoring team members, and ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILTIES:

  • Design, build, and maintain robust pipelines that support continuous integration and deployment.

  • Automate the provisioning and management of secure cloud infrastructure using modern scripting languages, frameworks, and tools.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop, implement, optimize, and maintain scalable cloud-based and hybrid-cloud platform solutions.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code to build reusable, modular components.

  • Participate in code reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Analyze requirements and contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, documentation, and support.

  • Ensure adherence to coding standards and development procedures, while identifying and implementing process improvements.

  • Apply cross-domain technical knowledge to support and enhance platform infrastructure.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and introduce innovative design patterns, tools, and practices to improve system performance and team productivity.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in build, release, and deployment processes, resolving complex technical challenges.

  • Share knowledge and mentor team members to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate versatility and technical leadership to align engineering efforts with strategic business objectives.

  • Analyze metrics and data to refine and improve the automation and continuous integration processes.

  • Updates and maintains technical documentation, e.g. technical diagrams, workflows and processes.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS :

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or Computer Science or equivalent work experience, with 7-10 years related experience and training; equivalent combination of education and experience is also considered

  • Advanced development and scripting abilities in programming languages such as Python, Perl, Java, C is required

  • Experience with deployment and configuration management tools, e.g. Ansible, puppet, chef

  • Experience with continuous integration and automation frameworks and processes is required

  • Significant experience building & managing automated pipelines

  • Experience working with automation technologies (such as Selenium or Playwright)

  • Experience working in an agile environment, such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe

  • Experience working with source code control tools, build tools and continuous integration systems

  • Ability to demonstrate a solid working knowledge of current continuous integration tools and technologies

  • Experience with virtualization, cloud and container technologies

  • Expertise in defining and analyzing metrics and managing technical debt.

  • Background in test-driven development or agile methodologies is highly desirable.

  • Solid innovation skills and a passion for technology and problem solving

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent English language skills is a must

Flexible Work Schedule

For decades we have fostered a unique culture founded on our values with a particular focus on in-person teamwork and collaboration. Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year. This model will help us enhance our culture while continuing to maintain elements of flexibility.
