ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF)

The Director-level research team member has integral role as a senior equity research team member advising Senior Management, client portfolio managers, and traders. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the entire range of research skills such as maintaining primary coverage for multiple GICS sectors as designated by the Managing Director of Equity, screening new ideas, modeling potential outcomes, and challenging team members in a professional manner. The Director may also be assigned portfolio management responsibilities for various investment products. As part of these responsibilities, the Director may also be required to meet with the media to express recommendations or conclusions on the financial well being of an entity. Demonstrated communication skills are required along with a willingness and ability to explain complex topics in an easily understandable manner. In addition to the mastery of the job responsibilities listed above, the Director should also assume a leadership role within the team, provide an advisory role for Senior Management, and act as a mentor for other team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
* Lead high-performing internal investment team that delivers actionable insights to our business partners and their clients.
* Lead team in the production of quality comprehensive, logical, and consistent internal research.
* Lead initiatives in the assembly of qualitative and quantitative research, including asset allocation segmentation, brand strategy, tracking, trends, and strategic idea creation.
* Prepare and participate in presentations to investment strategy teams and clients as required.
* Provide coaching on required job competencies, expected leadership qualities, while identifying prospects and providing strategic guidance in the facilitation of our business.
* Actively manage and identify areas of opportunity to cultivate business through efficient and polished client delivery and ongoing employee development.
* Deliver actionable insights that strengthen branding and identify growth opportunities.
* Communicate research rationale to external audiences (primarily institutional investors, sell-side analysts and media) in meetings, conference calls, press releases and written research reports
* Grow network of contacts in relevant fields that will assist the research department in discovering new opportunities and enhancing client perception while expanding relationships with prospective investors and where appropriate developing media exposure.
* Satisfy regulatory and compliance requirements while seeking to outperform compulsory service level agreements.
* Allocate and adjust resources as needed and present potential organizational changes to management.
* Demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to proactively and successfully interact with stakeholders, both within and outside the department.
* Develop marketing materials to be used with clients and media representatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with 10+ Years of relevant investment experience.
* Master's degree, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg and S&P Capital IQ Pro.

*Ability to work in a fast paced environment driven by market investment conditions.
*Must be a highly motivated self-starter; be an independent thinker and intellectually curious.
*Ability to work independently with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
*Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
*Must display a commitment to learning and developing relationships in support of departmental objectives and goals.
