Posting Summary
A postdoctoral associate position is available to study gene expression for important traits in blueberry and cranberry. This postdoctoral associate position will be housed in the Department of Plant Biology at Rutgers University, New Jersey in Vaccinium breeding program of Dr. Gina Sideli. This position will also work with Rutgers and USDA- ARS scientists at the Philip E. Marucci Center for Blueberry and Cranberry Research and contribute to the overall mission of the center.
This postdoctoral associate position is available immediately to work on multiple research projects including but not limited to: 1) understanding organic acid, sugar, metabolite gene expression of breeding populations; 2) method development and implementation of molecular markers for marker-assisted breeding efforts; 3) implement experiments to identify sources of resistance/tolerance to disease.

Minimum Education and Experience
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in plant molecular biology or genetics. Candidate should also have a record of submitting manuscripts through the peer-review process scientific journal. A copy of PhD certification will be required before an official offer can be given.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The applicant should be fluent in English (oral and written) and be able to communicate ideas to colleagues and conference attendees. The successful applicant can work independently as well as on a team and supervise students in the lab. This position requires expertise in molecular biology, DNA/ RNA isolation and knowledge on how to use specific lab equipment (i.e., endpoint pcr and qpcr, plate reader, nanodrop or Qubit), primer design, library prep, cloning experience. A candidate that understands biochemistry and biochemical pathways and use of GC/LC-MS and bioinformatics, metabolomics/data analysis is highly desirable.

Statement
The starting salary will be commensurate with experience. The initial appointment is for two years; renewal is contingent upon satisfactory performance.
