A laboratory in the Infectious Disease Sciences Program is looking to hire a part-time Lab Aide (12 hours average per week) to assist and support a project studying the human microbiome.

The incumbent will be responsible for receiving samples, logging samples into a database, organizing samples in freezers, assisting with lab experiments, and communicating results to the PI. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment.



Responsibilities

    Receive swabs from study participants and log these into a database.
  • Prepare reagents and culture media.
  • Organize samples and data for study team, including data entry of questionnaires
  • Summarize results from studies.
  • Perform cultivation experiments.
  • Assist lab personnel with experiments, which may include DNA extraction or swab preparation.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from High School or equivalent with interest in the sciences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of computer usage (especially use of spreadsheets and databases in Access, Excel and/or Freezerworks).
  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program or previous scientific coursework.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
