We produce a diverse range of fuels and products that are essential to everyday life. Our Pine Bend Oil Refinery in Rosemount, MN is looking for an Analyzer Technician. In this role, you will be part of the reliability team, which ensures the plant equipment runs efficiently and quality repairs are made in a safe timely manner.

Our Team

Our team is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ~ 3,000 CEMS and Process Analyzers throughout the Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, MN.

What You Will Do

Be a part of a team performing maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, installations, calibrations and repairs on approximately 2,000 Analyzers at the refinery. This equipment includes our fleet of CEMS (continuous emissions monitoring system), CPA (critical process analyzers), AAMS (Ambient Air Monitoring Systems) and others forms of measurement devices.

Review and understand written procedures, drawings, proper tools and equipment manuals to support completing quality repairs in a safe manner. Team members work as a team and individually in a collaborative environment using technology and skills to provide safe and reliable asset availability.

Work is performed outside in all types of weather and climbing ladders, stairways, vessels, towers and pipe racks is required work. This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Valid US Driver's License
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of the role as listed on the job posting
  • Ability to travel for off-site training to support refinery technology
  • Demonstrate a desire and aptitude for learning new, challenging and complex technologies and equipment (Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Electrochemical).
  • Must be willing to participate in a 24 hour/day on-call rotation for support of Environmental analyzers
  • Associate degree or higher in Process Controls and/or Instrumentation (or related field) *OR* Five (5) years of work experience specific to Process / System / Control and/or Instrumentation/process measurements (anyone in a refining or plant environment, paper mill, water treatment plant, etc
  • Willing and able to work alternative schedules including a rotating shift schedule for Turnarounds and other commitments which include night shifts as needed.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Previous troubleshooting work experience
  • Experience reading P&ID and Electrical Schematics
  • Automation and/or Electrical background
  • Understanding of condition-based monitoring
  • Proficient knowledge of CEMS, (CPAs) Certified Process Analyzers, and Ambient Air Monitoring Systems (AAMS)
  • Proficient knowledge in Refinery Safe Work Practices (SAFSWP100 - RFT61)

Physical Requirements of the Role:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)
  • Must be able to perform fresh air work with high concentrations of H2S
  • Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb (~200 ft) and balance
  • Ability & willingness to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (for example: hard hat, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots, etc. as required)
  • Must be able to adequately hear alarms and other sounds which may indicate a safety concern
  • Must be able to communicate hazardous conditions and other dangers
  • Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts, work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and outdoor weather conditions, work in high, precarious places and work around fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals

This role is part of the collective bargaining agreement and the starting pay for this role is set at $42.42/hour.
