THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Relief Maintenance Manager, you will assist in leading several teams that supports the collective performance of the plant, to achieve meaningful performance goals in safety, machine availability, quality, delivery and cost. You will manage and mentor up to 25 highly technical and competent union and non-union wage direct reports, as needed, with the primary goal of achieving world class machine uptime and reliability objectives. You will step-in when one of our Area Maintenance Managers are out of the plant to ensure we make progress towards our goals every day.

Furthermore, the position will be part of a development program with a goal of positioning the new leader to rapidly gain experience and grow quickly within the organization. We are expecting this new passionate leader to gain experience and promote into higher level technical roles within the American Synthetic Rubber Team, as well as be poised to take on additional responsibilities within the Michelin network.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead a team of up to 25 technical direct reports manufacturing facility in a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation, when their typical manager is out of the plant.

  • Monitor and manage daily performance of the plant maintenance teams and aid in setting mid and long term goals in line with company objectives.

  • Demonstrate the ability to be an inspiring, trusted leader who gets results through the empowerment of their team.

  • Mentor team and promote employee development and work responsibilities.

  • Provide maintenance and production teams with relevant communication regarding the needs of each team.

  • Assist in soliciting Overtime in compliance with our union contracts when our full-time solicitor is out of the plant.

  • Aid in facilitating our work planning and scheduling processes to ensure we are setting our maintenance teams up for success.

  • Be an eager learner and observer to ensure you understand the needs of each area enough to be able to step into their leadership role as needed.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Demonstrated leadership presence, maturity and natural curiosity

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence others positively and have difficult conversations when needed.

  • A BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is or equivalent is preferred.

  • Have at least 3 years of technical/maintenance management experience in a complex manufacturing environment. Experience in a petro chemical environment is a plus.

  • The commitment to learn, with a humble approach to self development.

  • Passion for continuous improvement in safety, reliability, machine availability and employee development/mentorship.

  • Outstanding judgment and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

  • Analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail.

  • The ability to lead change and influence the Team to embrace change when necessary.
